What is BOTOX?
BOTOX is an injectable treatment that has been used for many years in the medical and aesthetic industries to treat a wide variety of muscle or nerve-related health issues. Most notably, it's used for softening the appearance of dynamic wrinkles between the brows, around the eyes, and forehead. However, it can also be used to treat misalignment of the eyes (strabismus), eye twitching (blepharospasm), excessive tearing (epiphora), and drooping eyelids (ptosis). BOTOX consists of a botulinum toxin that prevents muscle movement for a limited period of time, which can be helpful for those suffering from various muscle or nerve disorders. When used to treat facial wrinkles, this temporary and isolated muscle paralysis provides smoother contours to achieve a natural and more youthful-looking profile. If you or your loved one would like to reduce the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes or are searching for a nonsurgical treatment for eye-related issues, BOTOX may be an ideal solution. How is BOTOX administered?
BOTOX is administered via injection with a syringe and a fine-gauged needle. The specific injection sites will be predetermined during your initial consultation, and on the day of your appointment, BOTOX will be administered to these areas. Once the formula is placed, you will be free to go about your usual day. There is no downtime associated with the treatment, but patients may experience mild redness, tenderness, or swelling at the injection sites. If you experience any allergic reaction, contact our office immediately. BOTOX is not suitable for everyone and is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Results usually last for 3 – 4 months.
